More warmth and more potential storms!

May 22 2018

Warm weather over the last few days have triggered localise thundery showers across southern England and the Isle of Wight, some of which were quite strong for a time!

As the we head towards the weekend the temperatures are likely to rise even futher reaching the mid 20's Celsius across central parts of the island at times but this is also likely to trigger further showers or thunderstorms, especially later in the weekend and the start of next week. Bank holiday Monday may have some heat but also the risk of showers or thunderstorms continue. Please see our daily updates for more information.

Sea Surface Anomalies + Forecast from  April 28 2018

After a month of being well below average the sea surface temperature is now gradually climbing to near average levels. We expect a slight stall in the rising sea temperatures over the coming week but then a rather rapid rise thereafter.
By mid May we are expecting the SST to be around 1.2'c above average around the coastal waters of the island and much of the English channel.

By the time we move in to June the SST's are likely to remain around 1'c above average and then maintain this anomaly throughout most of the summer.
Current projections show the highest predicted anomaly to be around late October with 2.3'c above average although this may well change nearer the time.
